Lewes U12 Boys Win Sussex County Cup and Vase Tournaments on 8th March

The Sussex County In2Hockey U10s and U12s tournaments were held at Hurstpierpoint College on 8th March. In the U12 Boys category, Lewes entered 3 teams; 1 into the Cup competition and 2 into the Vase tournament.

Lewes dominated both competitions from the start, with their Cup team and top Vase team unbeaten in their respective groups and qualifying for the semi-finals. Individual skill levels were very high, with some flashes of real brilliance on the pitch, but equally satisfying to watch was the crisp passing, excellent movement off the ball and strong teamwork both in defence and when attacking the opposition goal. The Cup team went on to beat Horsham 2-0 in their semi-final and then East Grinstead 2-0 in the final. The Vase team also faced East Grinstead in their final, beating them 3-0.

Congratulations to the whole squad. There is clearly some real strength in depth in the Lewes HC junior squads and we wish the Lewes U12 Boys Cup team the best of luck representing Sussex at the Regional tournament in April.
