Playing our first Development League matches v's Brighton A on Sunday afternoon made for a challenging start to the season against a well drilled opposition who felt bigger, older and more experience. Though both our U12 Leopards and U12 Tigers put some good passages of play together and were committed in trying to tackle hard, they perhaps lacked the experience at this stage to mark up goal side, keep the ball and play in open space, finding themselves running into trouble too often in the middle and giving the ball back too cheaply.
In these two matches v Brighton A our Leopards lost 0-7 and our Tigers lost 0-10.
When playing each other they showed positive improvement with some better wide play, direct passing, quicker decisions at free hits, and well angled attacking runs. Leopards tipped the balance in this match winning 4-2 against the Tigers. Great to see some goals scored, lessons learned and terrific team spirit!
Goal scorers:
Leopards - Edward Fuller 2, Toby Brown, Callum Hart
Tigers - Elliot Churton, Harry Walsh-Black
Big thanks BTW to Toby, Finlay and JC for padding up in goal - well done guys.
