Ably assisted by coaches Peter Thomas and Suzie Heinzl, the boys started a little tentatively and lost their first game 0-1 to Surbiton. They soon found their feet and followed up with 2 successive wins – 2-1 against Oxford and 3-0 v Maidenhead. There were smashing goals from Charlie Branton, Jack Jones and Rio Troak.
The wins were enough to qualify them for the Quarter final in which they faced unbeaten Canterbury. These matches were played in two 10 minute halves and, to their credit, Lewes significantly raised their game to Canterbury’s level and held them at 0-0 for 18 minutes. Sadly the opposition scored 2 in quick succession and Lewes ran out of time to get anything back. A very credible performance on the day from the Lewes boys.
