When Lewes have 11 players on the pitch they can match most teams, but yellow cards have plagued the team this season and two were given in the second half for clumsy tackles and prolonged dissent. A win was essential and so a dynamic move with a rasping drive from Matt Rickson capping his fine stick skills finding Dave Roberts in the first two minutes who judged the deflection perfectly. However Old Cranleighans were first to too many challenges and within 20 minutes there was an equaliser. Chances came and went for Lewes but Jimmy Fuller looked a threat running from deep and although the visitors had great pace up front a tight defence went largely untroubled. However in the last ten minutes with players in the sin bin, Lewes seemed to try and force the game and with it came wasteful possession. Lewes’ fate is now dependent on others for safety in this division.
