Lewes struggled against a skilful and quick Jersey team and were 2-1 down at half time with Rory Jervis getting the Lewes goal from a penalty corner. Lewes found themselves 2-4 down with Matt Rickson scoring their second midway through the second half. In the final ten minutes Lewes exerted pressure on the Jersey defence although they were down to nine players (two were yellow carded after some foul tackles). With the numerical advantage Jervis quickly grabbed his second to make it 3-4 and then youngster Jonny Rea scored from close range to level the scores. Despite a desperate final few minutes Lewes could not find the winner as Jersey eventually had eleven players back on the pitch.
Jersey were the more composed from the penalty spot winning 4-1 and deservedly going through on the balance of play to the second round.
