Another frustrating game which saw Lewes Lions dominate the game in both halves but failed once again to capitalise on the number of changes created. In a reshuffled defence Joe Fitch had a solid game in the centre whilst Jamie Coombes played well in his first game for the Lions. The midfield of Charlie Kingsbury, Jamie Cooke and Jack Bage marshalled once again by Sam Worledge, worked tenaciously in closing down the opposition and keeping the ball moving. Upfront Fred Squires-Saunders hard work was rewarded with a well taken goal in the second half. Archie Sherwood and Adan Stonely interchanged well and their movement causing the South Saxons defence many problems. Jonathan Cornish played another good game in goal and was unlucky to be beaten by one well struck short corner and a wicked deflection for the second. Archie Sherwood continued his scoring from short corners with another fiercely stuck shot. However the Lions failed to capitalise on their superior possession misfiring in front of goal. Hoping that midweek training will rectify this prior to next weeks away trip to Hailsham.
