It was the 1st of October
And the clouds had moved over
To bring out a pretty nice day
The whistle blew loud
And out came the crowd
As the ball was pushed back to begin play
After not long at all
Zoe smashed the ball
To score the first goal of many
Charlotte, Caitlin and Tiff
Really made the diff
By defending our goal like warriors
With Steph as our sweeper
She protected the keeper
By swiping balls away left, right and centre
A short corner was called
And Kaz clobbered the ball
Onto Rosie’s fortuitous stick
…
Perhaps we were on for a hat trick!
Lewes now had a spring in their step
As they had two in the net
But South Downs fought back with one of their own
The half time whistle was blown
Wow, that time had really flown
A motivational team talk was given
Back on the pitch
Hands gripped round our sticks
Ready to begin again
Just nine minutes after
Karen, had an absolute blaster
And chipped another beauty in the goal
The delight of the team
Their were plenty of screams
As we were pressed to defend once more
South Downs swooped back in
And another goal we had to take on the chin
The score was now three - one
The ball was passed to Holly
Who ran as fast as a collie
As she dashed up the pitch to the D
A quick play ensued
Keeping the opposition subdued
From our mids, Rebecca and Kim
Another hit in from a corner
Which came hotter than a sauna
Gave Zoe another triumphant goal
With Emma in goal
Playing a different role
The score line was kept in our favour
Thanks to Phoebes advise and expertise
We brought the opponents to their knees
Onto the next game we will go
This team is a dream
We are all super keen
To see where this season will lead!
