Match Report: Amy Graves
The 2s started strongly, creating numerous goal scoring opportunities. These mostly came from Emily Chevassut’s surging runs from RM, causing the Brighton defence all sorts of problems. Amy Boyse finally found the backboard after 15 minutes, connecting with an inch-perfect cross in from Chevassut.
The score remained 1-0 at half time, with Lewes feeling as though they should have really put the game to bed at this stage.
Brighton started with more intent in the second half and managed to draw level after 20 minutes. Lewes then stepped it up a gear and played some high intensity, impressive hockey to nudge ahead with another from Boyse. But as both teams tired and captain Fi Tubb took a quick break, Brighton won themselves a penalty corner, which they converted with 10 minutes to go.
Despite throwing everything they had at the game and some outstanding performances - notably from Innei Shum and Emma Franks, Brighton held on and the score remained 2-2.
