FIXTURE: Sussex Cup
HOME TEAM: Lewes Ladies 2s 0
AWAY TEAM: East Grinstead Ladies 1's 3
After an extra long Christmas break, the Ladies 2s could be forgiven for starting a little sluggishly, but playing at Falmer, in a cold wind against a strong East Grinstead team they were brought out of the sludge quite quickly!
The home team quickly found their hockey feet again and set about defending strongly against a determined EG forward line. East Grinstead tried varying their formation and tactics, using good interplay and skills to try and penetrate the Lewes defence, but half time saw just one goal for the away team.
Despite a highly competitive second half with strong performances from Fi Tubb (MoM), Kerry Fitzpatrick and Rosie Youngman and the team as a whole, East Grinstead managed to secure a 3-0 win.
A disappointing result, but a positive performance which should give the team confidence going into the second half of the season.
