Lewes take a 3-0 lead in the first half, but then fall behind in the second before sealing draw

LEAGUE: Sussex Ladies League Premier Division
HOME TEAM: Brighton and Hove Women’s 2's 4
AWAY TEAM: Lewes Ladies 2's 4 (Fuller 2, Molloy 2)

Lewes Ladies 2’s got off to a flying start in their league opener against Brighton and Hove Ladies 2's, with an early score from a penalty corner. And it wasn’t long before the Lewes team - with a few new faces among the familiar lineup - were three-nil up at Blatchington Mill School, Brighton's home turf.

Brighton and Hove pulled a goal back before half time but Lewes were the team finishing the first half in high spirits.

However, it seemed like we had fallen asleep during half-time and the home side appeared to have woken up. We conceded three goals in quick succession and were suddenly behind 4-3.

Lewes came back fighting though, and managed to bring the score back to a draw. Despite our best efforts, it stayed that way.

All in all it was a good start of the season. There were plenty of good moments in the match, and we have some things we can work on during the season.

We’re looking forward to our home game against Eastbourne next week.
