Your match reported: Steve Loader
Wet wet wet. Everyone will think their game was wet but the 4.30pm home slot was the wettest. Brighton 5’s was the opposition and Lewes quickly took the lead when Loader (S) slotted home from a loose ball after a Ben Wood attack.
But, by halftime, Lewes had slipped behind to 3-1. Lloydy’s tactical genius went to work, Lewes strengthened the central midfield and won a penalty corner. With a wet and slow pitch, Lewes dispensed with the stick stopper. Matt Lloyd’s clean strike deflected off the runner's stick and ricocheted into the top corner...3-2. Brighton scored again and this time it was Stillman battling through with his usual display of tenacity and bloody-mindedness to flick home just inside the post to make it 4-3. Brighton were worried as Lewes pressed on throwing numbers forward but stole another goal to leave the final score 5-3.
Man of the match: Matt Lloyd for his excellent display in defence and a cracking goal.
