Lewes were well beaten by a younger Worthing side in a high scoring game. Lewes led when Bill Short converted a cross from the right but Worthing broke to equalise. Andy Green restored Lewes's lead with a fierce shot but they were pegged back just on half time when the hosts scored again after a break.
Early in the second half Worthing scored from close range and then from a scramble to lead 4-2 but Lewes, despite two players carrying knocks, got back into the match when Green flicked high into the goal. As Lewes pushed forward they conceded two late goals to give a slightly flattering scoreline to Worthing.
