On reflection after a pretty dour draw last week, the result and game against Middleton could not have been more different. Employing the same defensive approach in the first half led to a 1-0 deficit at half time. But the game and the team sparked into life in the second half to secure a valuable three points.
Having drawn level via a James Hay penalty corner a well worked opposition goal set Lewes back mid way through the second half. But the home team galvanised their play to produce two more goals - a further PC from Hay and a clever individual goal from Charlie Cooke who consistently troubled the Royals defence with his pace and skill.
Ever willing and hard working this team effort was forged in the centre of the pitch by Hay and Phil Middleton. These two were ably abetted by John Child, Rich Pulley and newcomer Barnaby Heinzl who all made important contributions in this blossoming victory.
