On a sparkling new pitch, on a sparkling morning the home side could not quite live up to early expectations. Having played a reasonable first half but losing 2-0 the all important next goal would be key to the destination of the 3 points. Despite making the play for the first 10 minutes Lewes were unable to score. That ultimately cost the game as Brighton were able to take advantage of a team pressing for an opening goal with 3 more breakaways of their own. So a fair result? Probably not on the balance of play but the away side were more clinical in their finishing and coped with any attack Lewes put together. In amongst this disappointing opener Simon Bullmore was outstanding in goal, Phil Middleton was as ever a skilful outlet on the right and the two Charlie's Branton and Cooke added energy in midfield.
