Boosted by the return of evergreen veteran Chris Picken, Lewes 3’s travelled to face a strong Horsham team sitting a few places above them in the table. A bright opening saw Lewes transferring possession effortlessly from left to right and dominate the early exchanges. However chances came and went without conversion and Lewes were duly punished for a stray pass across their own D by an accurate Horsham finish (Lewes 0 - Horsham 1). Buoyed by this stroke of fortune Horsham dominated the latter part of the half but failed to add to their tally. A rousing half time talk akin to Henry Vs speech before the siege of Harfleur saw Lewes 3’s seize the game at the start of the second half. Oli Amos cooly rounding the Horsham keeper and finishing from an acute angle to bring Lewes level. Horsham surged forward in revenge as Lewes tired but stoic defending from Fewster, Green, Picken, Dakin and Keating saw Lewes achieve an excellent away point. Next week the 3’s face Southwick at home, and are hoping to capitalise upon their recent strong form.
