Lewes started the game pressing Worthing defence hard to put pressure on Worthing's young inexperienced players and openings did arise however chances were not taken. Lewes' frustrations were made even worse when a succession of stick tackles led to a green card being shown. Despite this, Lewes went into half time level at 0-0.
Half way through the second half Sam Rea made a perfect first time pass to put Jonny Rea through on goal with only the keeper to beat. As the forward turned his back to shoot the keeper took out the player only for the foul not to be seen seen and play to be waved on.
As the game progressed, Lewes continued to dominate the play and looked promising going forward, with Alex Lloyd's defence-splitting aerial ball unlucky to be penalised as Tapping and Rea bore down on the keeper. The decision proved annoying for Jonny Rea who hit the ball away in frustration, earning a yellow card which was then upgraded to 10 minutes for not biting his tongue.
Despite throwing everything at Worthing, Lewes had very little left in their tanks and the game ended 0-0.
