The Lewes defence, well marshalled by seasoned veteran Will Champness, rarely looked threatened and when Will Wycherley equalised with twenty minutes left of the second half all things pointed to a first league win of the season. However, the hosts were unable to make their possession count and, with only seconds left on the clock, the visitors broke down the right. The resulting penalty stroke was clinically converted by Horsham to leave Lewes to rue what could have been. The team will hope to make amends on Saturday away at Sevenoaks.
