After beating Horsham in the Sussex Cup the previous weekend, lewes travelled to Crawley last Saturday in high spirits.
Not even the closure of the M23 could slow down the visitors as they blew away the hosts in the opening 20 minutes.
A lightening starter saw the opening goal come just 3 minutes in as Joe Rideout slotted in a powerful strike. Minutes later Tom Clinch beat 3 players and slipped the ball past the on rushing keeper for a Seb Daniels tap in. Further good work from forwards Ollie Amos and Drew Wain allowed Joe Rideout to win a penalty stroke which Daniels dispatched easily and put Lewes 3-0 with 15 minutes gone.
The fourth goal was a text book training move as Peter Thomas worked the ball down the channel, Daniels & Rideout swapped passes for Daniels to complete his hat trick. Finally, after just 20 minutes, Jamie Neil added a fifth from a looping deflected penalty corner over the Crawley GK.
Despite conceding just before half time and a goal less second half the men in green finished worthy winners and continue their hunt for promotion at home against Worthing this Saturday @ 1:30pm
