Sevenoaks were fortunate to encounter a depleted Lewes team for the opening weekend of the season. Lewes were missing four key players, and with a couple of new players included, the well-drilled Sevenoaks side were the dominant team throughout the match. However, Lewes shone in a number of areas with great attacking runs from Rea and Hickman, winning short corners and creating chances.
The first half finished 3-0 with Sevenoaks converting their chances after a lot of pressure. The second half was more encouraging for Lewes. The lads fought hard, until the end, converting their 10th short corner with a Lloyd drag-flick flying into the top bin.
This game could be seen as disappointing. But Lewes showed promise, and with a full squad expected for the next game, and adjustment to the new league, improvement will come. The team will continue it's promotion push this coming Saturday against Old Bordenians.
