Lewes scored from their first penalty corner when Paul Spruce deflected in a shot and Robert Heinzl make it two with a fierce shot from the next penalty corner. Worthing had as much possession as the hosts but goalkeeper Chris Sharpe made two reaction saves to thwart them. Just on half time Spruce made it 3-0 with a hard shot from the top of the circle.
The second half saw end to end attacks from both sides but Lewes were more clinical in front of goal. Chris Marchant scored two, one flicked into the roof of the goal and another went through the keeper. In between Lewes defender Steve Fuller, on his return to the side after an operation, and Bill Short dealt with the Worthing attacks although their profligacy in front of goal meant Lewes won by a larger margin.
