Lewes 5s v Crowborough 4
Lewes couldn’t have asked for a better start. Two minutes 50 in, Julia’s quick reaction and neat finish got Lewes their first goal!
That set the tone for the game and shortly after an assist by Stef, Ruby joined Julia on the score sheet.
Lewes continued to play in Crowborough’s final third and with some great skills from Pippa down the line, Julia got Lewes their third goal.
This was the pattern for most of the first half and Lewes saw their 4th goal courtesy of Sasha.
The second half did not disappoint with Lewes starting the game on the front foot, and with a great assist from Bea, Ruby scored her second goal of the match. Lewes kept their foot on the pedal, and a great assist from Pippa made it a hat trick for Ruby with a fabulous backpost goal!
Although the majority of the game was spent attacking Crowborough’s goal, not only did the defence stand firm at the back, but Ella, Brooke and Heidi created some great opportunities for the team along with dealing with any threats Crowborough sent their way efficiently.
After a one-on-one battle with Crowborough’s Goalkeeper, Lewes took the score to 7-0.
The momentum continued and shortly after Ruby scored again.
In the final minutes of the game, a short corner for Lewes saw a perfectly worked injection from Heidi, allowing Ruby to get her 5th goal of the match.
More impressive than the 9-0 final score, was the performance each player showed and how well the team played together.
