A Steve Fuller hatrick and goals from James Williams and Reza cement the 6s solidly in 3rd place
A workmanlike performance from the 6s, who were indebted to Luke and Apples for turning out to support the Side following an early morning start at Eastbourne and welcome return of David Churton who filled Phil Middleton’s shoes who was dropped to the 5s;-) Lewes quickly settled into dominating the game with Reza and David buzzing in midfield. James Williams continued to threaten on the right wing and his telling crosses soon found SteveFuller who opened the scoring. With Richard Daniels and Apples dealing competently with any Crawley break away the incompetent captain in goal was left as a spectator. A James Hall overlap released Dave Churton who’s shot rebounded from the keepers pad to be drilled into the roof of the net by James Williams. This was unfortunately his last involvement in the match following a nasty collision leaving him nursing a bruised jaw. Lewes pressure resulted in a short corner well dispatched by Steve Fuller restored to short corners following TapIn dropping to the 5s. 3 - 0 at halftime with just one sub the next goal was going to be important. Lewes quickly applied pressure with both Liam and Alan having plenty of ball on the right the the Crawley keeper subjected to an intensive workout. A further short corner from Fuller put the game out of reach at 5-0 leaving Crawley to score a late conciliation goal past the hapless Mansell.
