We held on to the lead for much of the game but a draw was probably a fair result!

What a game!

An early start at home for the Lionesses with a team of great potential.

We started off positively moving the ball well around the pitch and working hard. A brilliant ball through by Tilly onto Flo led to a great goal in the first half. Our defence worked hard taking pressure from Southdown however the Lionesses had more possession during the first half with narrow misses on goal.

The girls played, yet again, with great spirit and positivity, listening well to advice in the breaks and being adaptable when asked to play ‘out of position’ as we searched for new combinations of players.

The second half brought chances from both teams, with both goal keepers having to make good saves off the line. Our defence worked very hard to keep the ball out, with some great work by Sienna, Martha, Fia, Lucy and Millie.

In the last quarter Southdown scored a well worked goal to draw level. The Lionesses were undeterred and continued to work hard and this pressure resulted in two really close goal opportunities.

The game ended level which, on balance, is a fair result (but I’d be lying if I didn’t say we were unlucky having held the lead for so long ?). So close to recording our first win of the season but so much to take from the game. Players players - Tabby and Ruby

Instructions

Don't forget gum shields and shin pads on Saturday as well as that positive fighting spirit and focus that we saw last Saturday and Tuesday at training.
It's a young team playing but I've put some more experienced players in there to help out.
The main thing though - enjoy it!
