U10 boys runners up in Vase In2Hockey championships at Hurst

David Mansell

U10 boys runners up in the vase today. Won 3 lost 1 drew 1. Amazing afternoon with great ‘never give up attitudes.

A real positive, friendly, inclusive and skilful showing in front of the county. U10 boys didn’t quite muster the magic of others though our vase green team managed silver well done them. My blacks were awesome, so close. Only conceded twice though no scores. Well done to Seb in goal. Totally awesome.

Lewes Greens kindly coached by Anna Ludow (thank you Anna - a star once again!) put in a valiant effort with some excellent play by Wilfie Collison. A great effort Greens - well done!

Lewes Cup squad lost the first two matches and won their last with a goal by Stanley Stoneham. A good effort all-round played in the spirit of the game was displayed and some excellent goal-keeping by Lewes Cup man-of-the-tournament George Von Riebech. Very well done to all players.

Instructions

Dear All,

We are very much looking forward to the In2Hockey County Championships this coming Sun 8th at Hurstpierpoint College. Please note points below.

Venue:
Hurstpierpoint College
College Lane
Hurstpierpoint
West Sussex
BN6 9JS

• Please can you confirm your son's selection asap.
Matches start at 1200 sharp so please be pitch-side at 1120. We will be playing on the South Pitch.
• A change regarding team selection: it seems we have entered one team into the cup competition comprising three 15-minute games / 5-minute turnaround, and two teams for the vase comprising four games (each) of 10-minute games / 2-minute turnaround.
• Usual blurb – shin pads, water bottles, sustenance, and mouth guards please
• Teas and coffee are available!
• Please ignore positions on Pitchero. They are not indicative of actual positions, rather it serves to allocate a number of players to a tournament, with which I will split into actual teams. Teams will be announced on the day.
• Should the tournament be cancelled for any reason I’ll relay a message via Pitchero so be vigilant.
• Request from Sussex Hockey:
• All parents and supporters to be stood behind barriers and only team managers at the side of the pitch
• Any persons taking photographs or videoing must email into the organisers prior to the event
• Please take all rubbish home with you
• Please respect all Officials, Umpires and players – friendly tournament to encourage participation, hence no negative comments about players/umpires please. Parents are not to confront the umpires!

Hope this helps but if you have any queries, please do text me on 07473 851044 or email johnharrop@outlook.com

See you Sunday.

Yours in hockey,
John.
