On Monday 1st August 2016 Mr happy hockey PT started Monday night hockey as a follow on from the inaugural Back to hockey campaign, a turn up and play session open to both the back to hockey players and existing club players. Since then the session has continued to flourish, expanding in it's early years from 60 to 90 minutes due to the large numbers of people wanting to attend and welcoming hundreds of players from across the club and beyond.

This week we celebrated 10 years of Monday night hockey with the traditional small sided games followed by a special award ceremony with one off prizes.

Award winners-

Winning captain- Elliot led the yellows to victory with 3 wins.

Top goalscorer- Zoe scored multiple goals in each game for the triumphant yellows.

Best teammate- Oli one of the original MNH gang who always looks to involve team mates and plays with his trademark sense of humour.

Best teammate runner up- Oksana always gives her best and works tirelessly for the team while committed to self improvement.

GOAT award- Kim despite normally playing in more attacking roles in league matches showed her defensive prowess with multiple great tackles and tight marking.

Although we don't have an accurate number of how many sessions we've run over the decade we do know it's not far off 500, we play in most weather conditions only occasionally have we had to cancel for frozen, flooded pitches and the only prolonged break we had was during the COVID lockdowns.

Monday night hockey continues every week of the year at 7.30-9pm at the Southdown sports club and is open to anyone 13 and over.
