Playing against a team that sounds like a nasty rash this was indeed the best that Worthing and Mid sussex could swarm together.

This home grown Lewes group of boys who sadly were separated two years ago at their peak took a little time to turn into honey particularly as they had three king bees injured. And so a difficult start with some great saves from Oli Mackenzie.

However Lewes settled with a fine individual run and finish from Johnny Rae and then one of two pinpoint long range passes from Will Wycherley setting up Alex Cooke for a second. Straightforward? No, Lewes then decided individual, was more important than the the team and started to give the ball away and the opposition buzzed back with a fine short corner.

However the dream team Marchant/Wycherley management was back droning on and Lewes flew from the nest in the second half looking the team they always were and oh if only the first team had been there to see it. A number of chances were missed but Cooke added a second, and the Wycherley/Heinzl partnership of old added the final crunch with one each. Canterbury away is likely to be a little more sticky!
