Lewes Boys U18s enjoyed a fantastic run in the England Hockey Tier 2 Knockout Championships, producing a series of strong performances that showcased the squad’s talent, resilience and togetherness.
The campaign got off to a flying start with an emphatic 4–1 victory over Eastbourne, where Lewes dominated large spells of the game with high-tempo attacking hockey and disciplined defending. Clinical finishing in the final third ensured a comfortable and well-deserved win.
The second round brought a tougher test against Guernsey, but Lewes rose to the challenge with a hard-fought 3–2 victory. In a closely contested match, the team showed real character and composure under pressure, holding their nerve to secure progression in a thrilling encounter.
Their cup journey came to an end in the next round with a narrow 2–1 defeat to Havant. In a tightly fought and competitive match, Lewes pushed a strong Havant side all the way, showing determination, structure and quality throughout, but just falling short of extending their run.
Despite the exit, the squad can be immensely proud of their performances and the way they represented Lewes Hockey Club. The cup run highlighted the strength of the club’s junior pathway and the exciting future ahead for this talented group of players.
A brilliant effort from the boys, coaches and support staff – a cup run to be proud of.
