The Ladies 1s (and the club in general) appreciate the pressures of umpiring and are extremely grateful to the Sussex Umpires for the time they give to allow them to play hockey. Which is why the club is delighted that the Sussex Hockey Umpire Association voted Lewes Ladies 1s as 'Women's Team of the Year' 2018/19 season. Paul Shackman from the association said the team won by quite a distance through being an aggressive team but never taking it too far, leaving the game on the pitch and being great hosts to their umpires post-game.
