Sussex Ladies Premier Division Brighton & Hove Ladies 3s 1 Lewes Ladies 2s 3 (Boyse 3)

Still on a high from two fantastic performances last weekend - having beaten Eastbourne 1s on penalty strokes on Saturday and narrowly losing to Maidenhead in the National Trophy, the ladies 2s were on a mission.

Battling the elements on a wet and windy afternoon at Blatchington Mill against Brighton 3s, Lewes started well but with a squad of 16 players and plenty of determination, Brighton were no pushover.

Emma Fuller had a great game in attack making lots of lateral runs and causing their defence plenty of trouble and Lewes' defence - strong as ever was organised well by Innei Shum and new goalkeeper, Sarah Fogwill - who made some incredible saves throughout. However at the halftime break it was still goalless.

The second half saw Lewes playing the ball round very well as a unit with some great runs from Jess Wycherley down the right supported by Gabby Rudrum.

Lewes broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half with a well rehearsed short corner goal from Amy Boyse. Shortly after, Boyse found the back of the net again from the same short corner routine.

Some sloppy play in midfield led to Brighton scoring a breakaway goal soon after to make it 2-1. The match was well fought by both teams and pretty evenly matched after that until Boyse completed her hat-trick with a rebound goal to put the game to bed.

Tilly Loughton, man of the match, had an outstanding game on the left and has grown in confidence week on week since the start of the season.

Match report by Amy Boyse.
