Lewes Ladies 1s Win 3-0 against Teddington Ladies' 2s
Confident attacking style gains the 1s another three points
FIXTURE: South Div 3B
HOME TEAM: Lewes Ladies 1s 3 (Hilton, Molloy, Pavitt)
AWAY TEAM: Teddington Ladies' 2s 0
Riding high after the previous week's victory, Lewes Ladies 1s felt confident as they walked out onto the pitch on Saturday, despite the fact that Teddington were sitting higher then them in the league.
Lewes wanted another 3 points this week and were going to stop at nothing to get it.
From the first whistle Lewes started very strongly, creating space and opportunities all over the pitch. It didn't take long for Anna Hilton to take one of those opportunities and bag Lewes a goal.
The goal Inspired the team to be more attacking and tougher on the ball. Jess Wycherley quickly demonstrated this by exploding down the right hand side of the pitch, eliminating players and winning a penalty corner for Lewes.
Finding a large gap on the right hand side, Molloy was slipped the ball again, a good shot but saved by the Teddington goal keeper. However Emma Pavitt picked up the rebound and slotted the ball past the defender on the line giving Lewes a nice 2-0 lead going into half time.
The second half saw Lewes continue their confident attacking style of hockey. Anna Hilton worked her magic in front of the goalkeeper and Teddington defence, but she narrowly missed the open goal she had worked so hard to get.
This didn't deter Laura Molloy as she did the same as Hilton but this time successfully netted a goal. Teddington tried to counter attack by breaking into the Lewes D however Robyn Creeden comfortably saved their shots calmly and cleared the ball back to the Lewes defenders to send the ball back up the pitch.
As the final whistle went Lewes were very pleased with not only taking 3 points, but also the 3 goals and another clean sheet!
Next week the team are away to Wimbledon.
