Goals, Goals, Goals
LEAGUE: South Div 3 B

AWAY TEAM: Worthing Ladies 1’s 1
Local derby day for Lewes ladies 1s taking on bottom of the league side Worthing Ladies 1s. Lewes have been playing well so far this season but failing to find the back of the opposition's net. Wanting to take full advantage of Worthing’s position in the league, Lewes set their sights on points and goals, and they did just that!
The first half saw Lewes take an early lead; some clever play from the Lewes forward line winning a short corner which was quickly converted by Captain Sarah Hall. This then started the ball rolling for Anna Hilton and Phoebe Rivet to bag their first goals of the season! Worthing who by no means were just rolling over came back with an attack and slotted one past the Lewes defence. Lewes not wanting to go into the second half with a small lead expanded the gap through Amelia Barron bagging her first of the game. Taking the score to 4-1 at the half way point.
Lewes are notorious for starting a little slowly in the second half but today they wanted that to change that. After an enthusiastic half time talk from coach Hugo Youngman the team started strong and fast. Anna Hilton calmly received a cross ball from Barron to slot another one past the Worthing keeper bringing the game up to 5-1. Barron later got her second of the game smashing a beautiful strike in open play past the Worthing keeper. She then won a penalty stroke that saw Sarah Hall put away in the bottom corner.
Lewes were not done with the 7 goals: they wanted one more and they got it. Another corner was won, a new routine was performed and Sarah Hall bagged her third goal of the game, bringing the final score to Lewes 8, Worthing 1.
