Men's 3s give Crawley too much space
Relegation still a concern for Lewes
Lewes went into this match with a degree of confidence knowing that a point would guarantee safety from relegation. However a strong and organised Crawley side quickly burst Lewes' bubble.
Starting poorly Lewes allowed Crawley time and space to dictate the game in the first half and a distinct lack of cohesion saw Crawley build a two goal load by the end of the half.
The now familiar strong words at half time reminded a young Lewes side that skill and ability are nothing without determination and strength. Lewes responded magnificently and dictated large parts of the second half forcing the Crawley keeper into no less than seven decent saves. Unfortunately Lewes could not convert the numerous chances and Lewes’ drive forwards allowed Crawley to utilise their ability to play high and long aerials in behind the Lewes back line. Two somewhat fortuitous goals gave the score line a look the second half performance did not deserve.
Lewes face two crucial home games to decide their season and this team must pick themselves up quickly and ensure that nothing less than maximum points next week is obtained.
