U12 Boys Hockey Mid Sussex Tournament 2014

The penultimate tournament of the season for the U12 boys saw us face 7 teams from across Sussex in a frantic afternoon of hockey. A draw in the first match against our own ‘B’ team was typical of a last Lewes start with too many late night sleepovers from the night before.

Our second game saw us face the eventual winners Mid Sussex who, when drawing with Lewes, were to lose their only points of the afternoon in a tense 0-0 draw. Lewes by now had woken up and 2 cracking goals from Oli Ingham against old rivals Eastbourne were very well received, except by the frustrated opposition coach.

Horsham turned out to be bogey team of the season and we only managed a no-score draw against their A team and lost our only game of the tournament to their B team against the run of play and much to the annoyance of seasoned goal keeper Billy Palmer.

The last two games was when Lewes finally managed to hit full speed with great link up play up front between Ben Battle and Dylan Williams creating one goal for Williams. A clean short corner strike to the bottom corner for captain Oli Loader secured the result against Wasps. And finally the biggest win of the day against Burgess Hill. 4 goals to Oli Loader, Oli Ingham, Oli Amos and Dylan Williams, will be forever known as the ‘triple Oli’.

Overall 2nd place with 12 points from a possible 21. Goals for 8, Goals against 2.
