Salary: Based on Knowledge and Experience of Candidate. Minimum of 12 hours per week.

Required Hours: Tues 6-9pm Thurs 6-9pm and Saturday: Flexible/Negotiable

Are you an enthusiastic, hard-working and forward thinking coach? Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge? Lewes Hockey Club are looking a Director of Hockey, to join ahead of the 2015/16 season.

The Job Role

The Director of Hockey is a newly created role in which the appointed person will oversee the performance element of the club. They will implement a strategy that will focus on the development of players from junior hockey into adult hockey as well as ensuring that all club sides are performing to the best of their potential.

The appointed person must be hard-working, enthusiastic and have an outgoing personality. They must be willing to work closely with captains, coaches and the committee to improve the overall performance of the club.

They must also be an England Hockey Level 2 coach, or equivalent. But most importantly they must be willing to really embrace the role and make it their own.

This is a paid role that would be suitable for a person to balance alongside existing full-time work or additional coaching or teaching work.

Main Responsibilities

> Coaching Lions & Lionesses (U16 boys and girls) junior training sessions with a focus on good technical development and to help players further understand strategy and player roles within the game.

> Coaching Men’s and Women’s Club Sessions, catering to a variable level of playing abilities, taking on feedback from captains on matches to create sessions that help to improve weaker areas of a sides game as well as taking a vested interest in the progress of all club sides throughout the season.

> Encouraging and developing junior volunteer coaches as well as delegating responsibility to volunteer coaches to assist in your own sessions.

> Act as a support and advisory to the 1st team coaches in their planning and execution of coaching sessions and matches.

About The Club

Based in the heart of East Sussex, Lewes is renowned for being a friendly, club with a wealth of history, great social atmosphere and expansive junior section. Lewes has 10 adult sides with the men’s 1st xi currently in South Prem Div 1 and the Ladies’ 1st xi in South Division 3B.

Based at The Southdown Sports Club, Lewes has excellent facilities with its own sand dressed astroturf, changing rooms and clubhouse.

Desired Skills and Experience

> England Hockey Level 2 qualification (Or Equivalent)
>Minimum of 2 years’ experience coaching club hockey >Experience playing national league or regional prem standard (Non-essential)
>Ability to critically analyse hockey and plan sessions
