Lewes put their summer training skills into practice at Brighton mixed tournament.

Lewes 4 (Wain (2), Wycherley, Stonely)
Southwick 0

Lewes 1 (Richards)
Brighton Bs 1

Lewes 2 (Wycherley, Stonely)
Brighton As 3

Fresh from summer training Lewes mixed arrived at Brighton & Hove HC ready for their first eleven a side competition of the season with a 15 strong squad comprising of 11 men and 4 women.

Their first game saw the team in green take on Southwick. After some initial midfield sparring, some excellent work on the left hand side from midfield dynamo Will Wycherley saw him open the scoring. Minutes later Malcolm Wain made the score two nil this time after a lovely move down the right. Into the second half Lewes kept pushing and were rewarded by further goals from Wain and Adam Stonely.
The second game pitted Lewes against the first of two Brighton teams. An excellently worked Penalty corner saw Zoe Richards coolly slot the ball past the opposition goalie from the top of the D only for the hosts to level the score mid-way through the second half.

Lewes’ final game, versus Brighton’s A team, did not start according to plan when they conceded three goals in quick succession. But, after taking stock at half time, a much improved second half performance was rewarded with two unanswered goals.
Gabby Rudrum was excellent in the back four, Tom Casselden and Chris Appleton industrious at half back and Harry Davenport driving attacking play at inside forward. All bodes well for an excellent season.
