The revitalized Ladies 2’s continued their winning run with a well executed 2:0 win over struggling Chichester. The first half was a scrappy goalless affair with Chichester stopping Lewes from playing their usual flowing game. After a stern but encouraging half time talk from the mighty duo of Sara Riley and Kerry Fitzpatrick the Ladies 2’s came out fighting. Elspeth Lunt and Camilla Busbridge, working well together on the right, quickly broke up the Chichester midfield. Lewes were rewarded with a superb goal from Emma Fuller, slotted behind the goalkeeper from a narrow angle. The pressure was building as Kerry peppered the D with lovely accurate balls. The Chichester defence conceded many short corners and finally Lewes converted one with a beautiful in / out movement via Phoebe Rivet which Sara struck home. She’s still got the magic.

AG played a high game, dominating the D, and coming close to scoring several times. Flo Car-Smith continued to show excellent ball carrying skills, picking apart the Chichester centres. In the final quarter Chichester attacked strongly down their right which Gabby Rodrum and Rosie Youngman controlled. Lewes gave away no defensive shorts in the entire game which left goalkeeper Katie Hall largely inactive and probably contemplating romantic poetry (it was Valentines Day after all).

Next week Lewes face a tough Brighton team sitting four places above them, but on this form there’s no reason why Lewes can’t deliver another win.
